Gotta love this place. They have such a beautiful variety of fabrics, from silks, cotton, linen, you name it. The owner really knows her stuff and always helps me find exactly what I need. And the button selection? Seriously unmatched. It’s my favorite spot for all my fabric needs!

I’ve been here for the first time ever this month whilst in a pinch for a creating a friend’s dress! Houston’s becoming a (quality) fabric desert imo. After High Fashion Fabrics closed I had to resort to a few spots on / near Harwin however i wasn’t too pleased with the quality or options. This wonderful spot is not only PACKED with many options (don’t let the appearance fool you). The owner even showed me sewing teachers I could contact since I’m still early learning into sewing!

Soooo many fabrics to choose from. I am so glad there is still a place in Houston that has such a large selection. The prices are reasonable because he fabrics are such high quality. There were many fabric I had never seen in any other fabric stores before. Will be coming back!

Found a material I like all for the owner to tell me it’s 3X more then the price that was marked on the fabric. Then proceeded to cover up her hustle by tell me it was because it belongs on a fold ?. So I left it and returned the next day to find it on the same roll marked with the made up higher price. I miss high fashion fabric so much. This place is very unorganized and smells like very old fabric.

Fabrics are extremely disorganized so it was overwhelming trying to find what I was looking for and very difficult to navigate. Very musty smell as well. Based on descriptions from other reviews, it seems I interacted with the owner. She sort of answered my question about what general area to find what I was looking for, but it was said in a tone as if I should have known where it was (lol). I had asked if there were upholstery fabric and twill sections, and she was quick to point out “this isn’t an upholstery fabric store!”. Obviously it’s not, I was just asking where it was in the store if she had any…cold experience that was off-putting enough for me to not return.

As a person who studied fashion and textiles this place is ridiculously overpriced. Service could be better. Staff is also judgmental, they told an older lady that fabric was $50+ a yard (assuming that she wouldn’t be able to afford it). Very disappointed.

My favorite fabric store in the area! There are numerous fabrics and a very wide variety of silks. So pleased to have found my new haven for fabrics, the staff is super helpful and patient.

I love this place. I'm a local fashion designer and this is one of my go-to spots for quality, specialty fabric and supplies. It may seem like a small storefront, but don't be fooled-- Twi has a huge selection of fabrics to choose from and is always very welcoming when I come into the store. Whether I'm shopping for a specific project or just browsing for fun, I always love having an excuse to visit Universal.
