I'm not sure how these live poultry places are supposed to work (full disclosure: I'm also a vegetarian) but at around 11pm last night a big truck filled lots of sheep and goats pulled up in front as I hung at the bar across the street. It remained there unsupervised like a delivered newspaper just waiting for someone to pick it up.

We left the bar at 2am and decided to inspect the truck which STILL remained unsupervised. It was indeed packed with lots of goats and sheep doing nothing but waiting.

At closer inspection we realized two of the sheep were dead. It was extremely disturbing.

So, what's the deal?

I always used to buy from there. It’s was Good service. But now cashier and owner very very rude. Specially owner son/ Relative. cashier always talk rude( owner son or relative I am not sure but he always take care cashier). And very high price If you compare other place. Today I bought 300+ meat. And I ask if I buy more item any discount or free item. His answer is rude and not respect customer. Normally some place offer buy one duck free one egg box. I bought 4 duck and 10 chicken nothing. Less customer now.

I went to the poultry place with a good friend of mine and I thought they were going to give her live chicken to take home. I got a bit confused because along our trip there she told me we were going to get live poultry. When she realized my confusion she couldn't stop laughing and said that I was a big stupid kid. How on earth are we supposed to take them home alive? But that's what you said, I replied. I always heard people say they going to buy them alive poultry... in fact what they implied was that they were going to get fresh meat. I never questioned the idea they have to kill them first before they sell them to the customers. I always thought you buy your own poultry and you do the job....which caused my confusion. Anyway she had a great laugh about my ignorance. I had to admit that was a bit naive of my part too for not understanding that process before I was told. The birds are all caged up and they even have live goats and a medium size cow in a room waiting to get kill. I wonder if we know or ever questioned where the meat that is in our fridge come from. Those poor animals have to die for us to feed our hunger for meat. I was kind of a sour sweet feeling. On one side we love to eat meat and on another side, animals have to lose their lives for us to feed ourselves. I couldn't stop thinking about death row while I was there. All those animals were waiting for their turn to be taken to the chop head machine. What if they knew or had a sense of self and actually understood what was going on, but just couldn't do anything about it? What if they knew that they were in a stressful state of misery and that their death will come pretty soon? I think that I have learned more about myself today than anything else. I worry about things that other people don't see and if they could scan my brain and understood half of the things I think of, people would label me crazy. Overall that was a great experience.

I just walked past here and was shocked to see it. I thought it was an auto repair shop, judging by how filthy it is. I would never purchase meat from this place no matter how freshly butchered it is. The entire place is filthy, the animals are covered in urine and feces. I wonder what awful conditions the animals were raised in too, if the farms feel comfortable selling their livestock to such a disgusting place. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no vegan but I make sure the meat I eat comes from clean farms where they take care of the animals, keep them healthy and clean, disease free, don’t pump them full of hormones and chemicals, don’t overcrowd them in cages, and generally treat them with the respect they deserve. Why would you want to eat something diseased, and dirty, that was essentially tortured it’s entire short life?!
I would never eat anything from this place.
