I had the opportunity to visit Boomerang Thrift and Gift today, and I must say, I went in with fairly modest expectations but walked out genuinely impressed. As someone who enjoys browsing through thrift stores, I’ve encountered a wide range of atmospheres, from cluttered and chaotic to carefully curated. Boomerang firmly falls into the latter category. Right from the moment I stepped inside, it was clear that a lot of thought and effort has been put into maintaining this space. The organization was absolutely top-notch — everything felt like it had its rightful place, which made navigating the store a breeze. In a space like this, where a variety of goods can sometimes overwhelm, Boomerang’s sense of order was a refreshing surprise.
What really stood out to me, however, was the sheer variety of items available. It wasn’t just your typical second-hand store fare; the selection was eclectic, offering a blend of different styles, eras, and types of items. Whether you’re looking for a quirky piece of home décor, unique accessories, or some hidden gem, Boomerang gives off the feeling that you could easily stumble upon something truly special here.
An unexpected bonus that immediately caught my attention was the presence of both fitting rooms and a bathroom. This may sound like a minor point, but if you’re someone who frequents thrift stores, you’ll know that these conveniences are becoming a rarity. Many thrift stores are doing away with fitting rooms altogether, which can make shopping difficult, especially when you’re dealing with second-hand items that vary in size and fit. The fact that Boomerang still offers fitting rooms is a huge plus, as it allows customers to try on clothes before committing to a purchase. This is something I really appreciated, and it made the shopping experience far more comfortable and convenient. Similarly, the availability of a bathroom adds to the overall customer-friendly environment — another small detail that makes a big difference.
Despite all the positives, there was one aspect of the store that left me somewhat disappointed: the men's clothing section. While the store as a whole had an interesting mix of items, the men’s selection was fairly limited. For a thrift store that’s so well put together, I was hoping for more variety in the men’s department. It felt like the focus leaned more heavily on women's and household items, which left fewer options for men.
Additionally, the way the clothes were organized was something I found less than ideal. Rather than sorting items by size or type, the clothing was organized by color. Now, I understand that organizing by color can create a visually pleasing aesthetic, but for practical shopping purposes, it’s not the best method. As someone who was hoping to quickly find items in my size, this made the process a bit more tedious than it needed to be. It would make much more sense to arrange clothing by size and type, making it easier for customers to quickly find what they’re looking for without having to sift through racks based on color alone.
Overall, while there’s room for improvement in terms of the men's clothing selection and how the items are categorized, I still found Boomerang Thrift and Gift to be a worthwhile visit. The cleanliness, organization, and thoughtful layout of the store truly stand out, and the added conveniences of fitting rooms and a bathroom significantly enhance the shopping experience. With a bit more attention to how the clothing is organized and a broader selection for men, this store could easily become one of the best in its category.
